Architectural renderings Illustrator Brian Swanson done in line art styles using sparse colors and mostly black details. These illustrations were done from photos provided or by on site drawings. The renderings of the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore were done and submitted to use as patent and copyright drawings. There are many details to capture on this type of architecture and the use of forced perspective is a feature I like to replicate.
One of my techniques that I learned from the aerospace industry, as a technical and mechanical illustrator, was to use thin lines for details, and a heavier line for an object that you could put your hand behind. My training in tech art started with detailed pencil layouts using various colored pencils, then finally rendered in ink with my trusty RapidoGraph pens and a pile of ellipse guides, triangles, erasers, frosted mylar, vellum and templates.
